Saci Pererê
This is one of the songs from Mestre Curió’s beloved album. I have extracted it and transcribed the lyrics for my singing practice. I also added a range of images found on the internet (If I’m infringing any copyrights let me know, will either remove it or credit the artist. I’m not making any money for this so no point in suing me!). The depictions of the Saci are surprisingly wide and varied, as you will see! From a mischievous goblin/leprechaun like creature, to a more manly, muscular – and menacing one.
I have tried to find Mestre Curió’s music to buy on the internet – I love this album so much I’d like to show my appreciation by buying it. No luck so far. If anyone knows of anywhere I can purchase it from, let me know! I can only find it on YouTube or as a free downloadable – this CD was recorded in 1997 in Mexico City.
A good time to sing this song would be during a very bouncy game. What I have seen happening is when this song gets started experienced players will start moves on one leg, or bounce on one leg only, to emulate the saci.
